Self-taught, Vivienne began learning jewellery history as a teenager when she worked for antique jewellery dealers in one of London’s indoor antiques market. Fascinated by the jewels and their stories, as well as by the characters in the trade, the dealers, collectors and passionate connoisseurs, she stayed for three years before pursuing a long held ambition to be a journalist, working first as fashion assistant on SHE magazine and then for Antique Collector magazine. Since branching out as a freelance journalist and jewellery historian, Vivienne has written for newspapers and magazines around the globe, and is recognized today as a world-leading authority, journalist, author, curator, lecturer and broadcaster.
